buttahbasted blooms from the screen to Real Life™
Come join me :) I'm throwing an event this Saturday!
Friends, I’ve been away for a minute, but I’m back with a banger. On Saturday, I’m hosting an experiential event in San Francisco to launch buttahbasted in REAL LIFE. Yes, the written album I teased in May has leapt from the screen to this dimension.
In the spirit of buttahbasting, the event will be sensory-focused and curated. Once you step into the space, you will be invited to interact with six sensory stations—tickling your senses of smell, taste, sound, and perception. Each station will have a guided card like these:
For one evening only, experience the sensory journey of buttahbasted, my book that celebrates richness from everyday moments. Your evening includes:
Interactive sensory stations
Curated wine & prose pairings
Prizes for sensory sommeliers
Simmering, ambient music
(Temporary) reprieve from doomscrolling
Discounted book bundles for holiday gifting
I would love to have you join me in real life. Buttahbasted wouldn't have made it to the real world if not for you guys. So many of you left the most thoughtful, generous comments along the way. Thank you, thank you, I’m so grateful.

Why get the book if you've read the newsletter?
Buttahbasted is more than its individual stories. This collection offers a complete sensory journey made to be sipped, not skimmed.
In more practical terms, the physical book offers:
New stuff never published before:
Fiction finale: “we are // flowers to the moon”
“walking on an unfurling road”
specially crafted prologue and epilogues
Curated story order that creates new meaning
New edited versions of previous favorites like “I don’t know where home is” and “a brunch to cry for”
The physical book also offers needed dimensionality. It felt ironic writing a digital manifesto “rejecting fast-fast-fast art culture” on a platform that sometimes encourages that. The full potential of buttahbasted is in the slowing down, steeping in, leaning into our senses—things that become easier when we step away from our screens and into the physical world. So we had to graduate to 3D.
