Aaaah I really savour your travel-writing Tobi! This was so light and easy, you have such a gifted voice. Loved the constant reflections on your inner world as you navigate the outer world's social, political and cultural. The piece felt so *whole*, speaking to all lenses of the journey, without being heavy or contrived, and to me your ability to do that lightheartedly feels like a REAL gift.
thank you Malavika! wow, such high praise, really appreciate this comment. I have the most fun writing my travel pieces, glad someone vibes with them :)
This was such a fun story, Tobi. Lisbon has been my favorite city to visit and it was delightful to travel back there with you. Found ya while researching Foster.co, I'm considering taking their The Artistan’s Way course. Excited to be a new subscriber and read your stories. :)
See, you didn't even go to all those other spots and yet I still felt like I visited them. Lovely, Tobi, just lovely. Also - totally fell for the Lychee reaction at first ;) And I can't believe you got in that bananas mob TWICE.
thank you! haha good to know the deception worked. I can't believe I got stuck TWICE either. when I saw the crowd full at 3:30AM I laughed because I couldn't cry 😅. I would've been so pissed if I missed the flight because of them
"I knew the grocery store to avoid because the cashier scanned items too quickly and yelled at me for being too slow at packing my produce." this whole piece was so fun, but this line made me lol because it's so relatable. I get grocery store anxiety very easily.
Also for a brief moment with the lychees I was like what?? And she had an epi pen on her??
lmao sis was screaming at me in Catalan and I'm like "uhhh I physically can't move any faster🤷🏽♂️". haha my initial idea for the lychees bit was to joke that it would be hot if she nearly killed me and resuscitated me in the same night. which I think is hilarious. but somehow I shied away from that

Really enjoyed this light-hearted piece, especially that ending!
haha did you imagine I had an allergic reaction? I wasn't sure if it was deceptive enough haha
for a second... haha. Gullible? Maybe.
Great account of your trip to Lisbon, let’s go for a walk next time you’re here!
let's do it! I wish I had more time to explore, it's pretty high on my list of cities to return to

Welcome Katie! Glad you liked this piece. Did I do Lisbon right? What should I do when I return?
Ah yeah, Foster was really cool. Happy to help answer any questions about it if you're curious
