Saving this to come back to later this year when I think I’m getting stuck like I know I will eventually... and I know this will help me take a deep breath about it.

This is far more uplifting than the “choose your shit sandwich” advice I used to tell myself when I freelanced for five years! 😂 The reality is YES the money that strangers paid me for my skill felt amazing! I remember when those checks cleared they seemed worth far more than the dollar amount. The steady paycheck I make now is admittedly a relief every 1st of the month compared to those check-to-check Net 30 days. But the thrill is certainly not there like it used to be. I’m diggin on your gray paint metaphor. It’s so hard to tell when the shade is just right. It takes so much experimentation and a hell of a lot of stepping back to reflect in hindsight. And it’s definitely ok to ditch the faux positivity (fck the “crush it” mantra too when it’s doing more harm than good!) But do recognize that this [often lonely] road is for the most courageous! You deserve big ups for walking the walk! 🔥
I appreciate you candor (and humor) here because no surprise, it really resonates. There’s so many beautiful wins on this path and also many Ls or just moments of like gahhhh. It’s nice to hear someone else say it out loud! Also, big congrats on all your successes this year! It was amazing in so many ways and I’m happy I get to witness your journey.
"moments of gahhhh" you captured it well but mine usually come with a few expletives too haha. happy this resonated, I love sharing the honest truth instead of the pretty facade
